A run

Ran with Andrew, Zak, and Patrick.

Ran from the HS to Stanley Street and jumped in (it was suuuuper high).

The run is a little over 4 miles, and took us 28:40. We were going at an ok pace, but it wasn't a great workout. The other guys were hung over.

100 pushups and abs.

Stairs tomorrow, hopefully I will feel as good as I did a week ago.

Thursday July 23

Took off, sore and hanging out with darden.

Did 100 pushups and some abs.

More parts of Snertz- July 21

So what we did yesterday was not a SNERTZ!!, but it was more of the first part of a full snertz, and i think that it could have been about equal to a reg. full snertz. Snertz is the dumbest f-ing name...for anything...

Yesterdays workout got my hammies pretty bad, and though i still feel kind of like a bitch for splitting this workout up, who gives a damn...

So with Henry, Christian, and Zak we did the most of the rest of the snertz plus a little:

- 2 X 40 lunge/twists

- 6 X 40 yard one legged hops. Switch legs after 20 yards without
stopping, switch starting legs every rep. Attempt to minimize steps
needed to reach 40 yards.

- 30 pushups 100 situps

- 10 X 5-10-5 shuttle/cone runs (start run 5yds touch the line with
hand, run 10 yds the other way touch the line, run 5yds stop)

- 10 X 40yds explosions (run a 40 as fast as you can)

-35 pushups- 100 situps

With Henry I did 2 sets of 5 of each of the following two throw drills:
1. turn at thrower and run toward a cone 10yrds away, thrower says left or right and throws it to the side, working on reactions here
2. jog away from thrower to a cone where you plant and sprint back under to thrower, who is just throwing to you at different placements.

My back was also bothering me a bit, so it was a good time to stop.

Part of Snertz- July 20

With Zak and Henry we did some of the Snertz exercises on the track:

4x15 squat jumps into 40 yrd sprint
3 minute rest
4x15 tuck jumps into 40 yrd sprint
3 minute rest
4x15 calf jumps into 40 yrd sprint
3 minutes
4x15 squats into 40 yard sprint
2 minutes
4x15 tuck jumps into 40 yrd sprint
3 minute rest
4x15 calf jumps into 40 yrd sprint

Total of 24 40's
This was pretty hard, and Zak was dying after the first three sets.

We threw around a little in the rain and then did some abs and pushups (100 by the end).

Goaltimate

Played some goalty with Kanner, Joe, Christian, Robin, Henry, and a Umass dude (Babbit?).

We played for over an hour.
For most of it, it was Joe, Kanner and I VS. them all. The first two games to three we lost, the next two we won, and the last game to 5 we WON! Yay.

I had a couple of good bid, scraping up my bare chest. got burned again.

It was a decent workout, but it was hard to push hard while playing. Fun though!

Stadiums ain't got shit

Did STADIUMS for the first time in what seems like years.

With Christian, Joe and Kanner.

After each set of 5 we had a long rest:

5x singles
5x doubles
singles, grapevine, singles, grapevine, singles
doubles, high knees, doubles, high knees, doubles
single hop, double hop, single hop for height, up two down one, single right leg, single left leg

10 pushups after each set, and then finished the 100

This workout felt great for me.  This may just have been in comparison to yesterdays?  Maybe we took too long between each?  Either way, I was working pretty hard, and though by the end of each set it got harder, I recovered quickly, and felt like I could have done some more.  I know Joe was feeling like throwing up after the second set, and Kanner was pretty tired too, so that made me feel good.

NUTC week

SATURDAY- Joe and I met up at the HS and did a workout.
The workout was dynamic exercises on one straight away of the track and sprints on the other straight away.

Laps 1 -2: Quick high knees
Laps 3-4: Butt-kicks
Laps 5-6: Shuffle
Laps 7-8: Carioca
Laps 9-10: Backpedals (first lap is quick short backpedals a-la NFL
cornerback, second lap is long, heels to ass and then extension backpedals)
Laps 11-12: Sky-ems (jump off on foot at a time as high as you can, switch the left and right foot for jumping)

For sprinting the opposite straight-aways, I want it to be more of an acceleration from 75-100%. Not immediately 100%. You should be top speed by 2/3 of the way through.

We lightly jogged/recovered around the corners.

This was pretty hard by the end.

SUNDAY- Not much but did some sprints with campers (3x 20 and 40 yrd shuttles, 5 times halfway up suicide hill, once all the way up).

MONDAY- With RUSS and ANDREW:
Sprint 25, 95, 120, 95, 25 (jog the distance you sprint is the rest)
14 x 25 yard sprints with different starts

We also had the camper/counselor game that night with only 9 or so counselors.  We won 26-6, so I probably played about 25+ points.  It was pretty hard.

TUESDAY- With Andrew:
20 sprints, alternating between 70s and 40s, starting on the minute.
Later I did 100 pushups

WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY-  Tournament time, so I didn't do any working out, except for some pushups, but it was time for a rest.

FRIDAY- With Stubbs, Brent, Mirandrew, Patrick, Russell, and Kanner:

2 suicides--cones at 10, 25, 35, 50, and 65 (I think)

5x:
*10 bodyweight squats
*skip go x 6
*10 pushups
*start on right foot, sprint 10 yards, plant with right foot, backpedal to line x 3
*same thing with left foot x 3
*start on left foot, sprint 10 yards, plant with left foot, pivot 180 degrees, backpedal to line, plant left foot, pivot 180 degrees x 3
* same thing with right foot x 3
*shuffles x 3

2 suicides

Did some abs and later on finished the 100 pushups.

We had people over to our house the night before, did some drinking and had a lot of fun, but was not able to recover from the week very well because of that fun.  We went to HP and could barely stay awake.  So I'm proud that I was able to get the workout going (no one would have if I didn't), but it felt pretty bad while doing it.

Stan Steez- June 10

Zak and I ran from the HS to Stan street, jumped in, and ran back.

Total running time was 28:30.  I think it is about a 4.2 mile run.

Akers

Me, zak, bill, robin, joe, miles, christian:

12 x 20 yards (15 seconds rest)

10 x 40 yards (30 seconds rest)

8   x 60 yards (45 seconds rest)

5   x 80 yards (1 minute rest)

3   x 100 yards (1.5 minute rest)

65 pushups

Workout cancelled (but found 4 nests!)

Was gonna do some track with Zak (and Miles), but after warming up, the just dumped on us, and despite waiting around for 30ish minutes, it did not let up much, and we decide to bag it.

I guess I'm ok with that. I am pretty sore from the last two days of running, but just feel so unproductive when I don't workout, especially when all I do after work is watch tv and sleep some.

I did do 100 pushups

Intervals instead of pickup

I didn't think it would be a good idea to play yet, just cause I don't really want to tweak it again before NUTC, so I did not play what ended up being a really shortlived pickup.

Instead I did an interval run.

3.2 miles (twice around the 1.6)
12x 15 sec on, 30 sec off for the first lap (9:37)

rested for like 90 seconds

Just jogged around the second lap (10:53)
total 20:30

June 6

Went for a run cause still wary about the back.

Did the Hemingway to Gutter loop. Probably about 4.5 miles in about 34:45...

NYC june 2-5

So my back was pretty bad actually. It hurt a lot, and kept me from sleeping well and going to work on thursday. Luckily I headed to NYC for the weekend, which would give me some good rest from working out.

The trip was GREAT, and my back was much better when coming back home. It was really fun to see Martha and Maya, and spend some time in a the big ass city.

Hurt back

Started out alright:

3x (each into a 15 yrd sprint)
foot fire
foot fire left
foot fire right
backward left
backward right

4x
fall downs
scramble ups

REST

8x
10 MN climbers into 20 yrd shuttle

REST

6x
4 squat jumps into 15 yrd sprint

On these I hurt my back. I got hit hard this weekend and that ended up weakening it, and these just pushed it over the edge...

Workout with Jonah-June 31

I went to workout before pickup, but no one except Jonah showed until I was mid way through.

5x
Sprint 70
20 yrd shuffle shuttle
40 yrd shuffle shuttle
20 yrd shuttle
40 yrd shuttle
Sprint 70
3 minute rest
(rest a couple of seconds between each thing)

I did a sixth one after Jonah did one to make up for missing a couple.

These were really pretty hard.

I then played some pickup. Won a game to 11 for a WATERMELON!
100 pushups later on.

Baylis and Megan

Still around on Monday, so I didn't really do anything for working out. We did walk around in the woods though.

BI day two

Phoenix- quarters
We went up 8-2 and then got outscored in the second half. Despite this, I felt good about how I played and how the handlers were starting to work better together. Patrick and Micah with nasty grabs:

Ironside-semis.
Great game overall. Evan and Patrick tore it up. Micah had the best game of his life. Jonah, Frogger and I got it done, and worked well together. I had maybe one turnover. I had Crockford on me for most of it, and despite the excessive use of his hands for defense, I feel that I owned him pretty well. I broke him hard with two flicks, and I think I helped him make three turns. I also had a nice layout to save Jonah's swing pass. They did not have Neff and we did not have Andrew, Robin, Kapinos, or Kanner...

The game was at 13s and we were recieving. Evan drops it, and they score. Then they pull, Tyler gets point blocked, and they score. Really shitty way to end a great game, but we did our best.

Truck Stop- third place game
We ended up taking them down 13-6 I think, which was impressive because I do not think that our energy was brought over from the other game. I was able to get open pretty easily, and had a couple of close bids.

OVERALL
I felt my confidence and energy with the team rise incredibly from the SOL game to the end of Sunday. I was happy with how we all progressed, and despite the losses, I know we learned a lot and will rise up from here.

Baylis and Brent should be joining us soon.

BI day one

Rough start against SOL. I had some really bad bad turns, and a charlie horse, which all got me real pissed. But then made a nice grab toward the end of the game, which got me going on a better note.
Mephisto was a better game, and I felt like I was getting into a good rhythm with myself and the other O-liners. Henry with the nasty grab:
Next was GOAT. I fucking hate this team. We were playing pretty well with them for most of the game, but ended up getting owned 14-10 or something. I played decently, but really got into with #21 (short, beard, asshole, mixed worlds? real cool). He called a foul, then threw. I called it back, he got mad, started talking shit about CUT (what? how?), they turned it, and then I scored on him upline as I talked shit to him (see picture). He then went out of his way to kick me while I was down on the ground later in the game, and then I BLEW up at him. Boo. Sometimes this game just doesn't make me feel good...

Megan arrives June 26

Whelp, did not end up running, but did go for a hike up Mt Toby with her.
