Just an awesome picture

MRI and first day of back strength

Got an MRI!

If I can keep this up, lets see how things improve...especially those pullups.

Back bridge: 50, 90 sec, 25 raises each leg x 2
Pushups: 15, 15; 20, 20
Pullups: 4; 3
Squats: 20
Single leg balance: [45 open, 15 closed x 3 each leg] x 2, also 2 minutes each leg tossing friz between hands.

Run: 2.8 miles- 19:13

First steps to back recovery

Don't bend the back.
Keep good posture.
Flex core always.
Try not to sit.

Things that I'm going to be doing everyday as well as I can. Other than the running, I will try to do the others twice a day.
1. Ten back extensions every two hours
2. Pushups-slow
3. Pullups (wide-grip)
4. Back bridge (two legs and one legged march)
5. Single leg balance. Eyes open, closed, and with a frisbee
6. Run.
7. Squats
8. Stretch

Getting back on track!

You can only go up from what feels like zero!

Ok, so for the last 6 or so weeks my back has just been out of commission. I did go for a couple of runs (see below) and was able to practice for about an hour. But other than that, I've just been resting as best as I can because this shit has been fuuuuucked.

the few runs:
9/28- 4.5 in 30:30min...32min (stop time included)
9/29- 4 in 29:15min...31min (stop time included)

10/1-7+ in 56min
10/5- 5.65 in 39:06min...40:06min (stop time included)

Missed out on Chicago, sectionals and a bunch of practices. Tried to play at Regionals, but just couldn't. Bodhi made natties (!) and I'll be going, but i just cannot play, and need to make this back better not only for next season, but for my life. SERIOUSLY.

I saw a couple of people, but no one has really told me much about what they think is wrong until the latest guy. I got some bad advice on what to do and am now seeing someone else (George DeFranca) who seems to be helping me out, and giving me some good things to start working on to get stronger. At my worst (after chicago, and after regionals) I couldn't really bend over at all. Boo. Now the problem is more in the nerve in my left butt and leg. I haven't had as much pain in the back, but that's also because i havent been trying to use it.

Bulged disk? Maybe. Either way I really think that I am on track to actually getting better. No frisbee this fall, but a nice trip to FL is to come, along with some serious running and back strengthening this winter!
